Summary:

Position is responsible for insightful and dynamic leadership to support the organization's patient and employee education needs.

Qualifications:

Undergraduate or graduate degree in nursing, business or healthcare administration is preferred.  Minimum of three years' experience with similar job duties is preferred.  Progressive health care education and leadership experience is required.

Physical Demands:

Hours of duty may be long and irregular. Sits, bends, reaches, files, types, walks and occasionally lifts .

Normally works from 8:00am until 4:30pm Monday Friday.

Operations Management Education:

1. Consults with organizational leaders (medical and administrative directors, department managers, and   supervisor) regarding patient and employee education and/or competency needs.

2. Provides and/or coordinates education-related activities across all areas of the organization.

3. Leads organizational education-related activities in conjunction with subject-matter experts.

4. Coordinates facility-wide needs assessment and implements education pertinent to identified knowledge and/or skills gaps.

Operations Management Performance Improvement:

1. Directs the organization's quality improvement initiatives by supporting the accomplishment of strategic plans that achieve high impact and significant improvements in organizational performance. 

2. Compliance and Survey Readiness:

a. Acts as an independent review and evaluation body to ensure appropriate evaluation, investigation and resolution of compliance issues/concerns within the organization. 

b. Monitors, and as necessary, coordinates compliance activities of other departments to remain abreast of the status of all compliance activities and to identify trends.

c. Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or manage similar situations in the future.

d. Conducts regular mock surveys and other survey readiness activities to ensure the organization's preparation for all scheduled and/or unscheduled surveys.

e. Provides reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep senior management informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.

f.  Maintains an awareness of and ongoing compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies in areas of responsibility. 

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Interpersonal Skills:

a. Works with the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Nursing Officer, and others to develop performance imrovement targets for competency, quality, service, and efficiency of the organization. 

b. Provides leadership for implementing changes targeted at educational and systems improvement.

c. Works collaboratively with staff, managers, and facility leadership to promote, design and implement education, improvements, and innovations within the organization.

d. Consults with administrative and medical staff, managers, directors, and critical committees as appropriate to finalize and advance facility goals.

e. Communicates with work teams, staffs, managers, and directors through the organization.

2. Administrative Skills: 

a. Utilizes technical skills that include word processing, creating spreadsheets, and maintaining database software. 

b. Enhances team development by providing facilitation techniques applied to quality improvement that enables teams to achieve their highest potential.

c. Possesses superb written and oral communication skills with particular emphasis on preparation of quality reports based on data abstraction and analyses, presentation to multi-faceted audiences, teaches quality improvement techniques as indicated.

3. Serves as the Chair of the Education Committee and Quality Improvement Council.
